What is FDM 3D Printing?

What is FDM 3D Printing?

Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), also known as Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF), is an industrial additive manufacturing process that builds strong, functional parts layer by layer by extruding heated engineering thermoplastics.
At HIGH On 3D, we operate industrial-grade Flashforge 3D Printers capable of building seamless, large-scale parts up to 800 × 800 × 800 mm. FDM is the go-to process for rapid design iteration, rugged IoT enclosures, factory tooling, and high-strength functional components where cost efficiency, durability, and material variety are essential.

Machine Infrastructure & Technical Capabilities

At HIGH On 3D, we operate advanced industrial-grade Flashforge 3D Printers to deliver large-scale, high-strength FDM components.

Industrial Build Volume (800 × 800 × 800 mm)

  • Capability: Large-format single-piece manufacturing that eliminates the need to split and join big CAD models.
  • Recommended Applications: Vehicle interior panels, large electronic housings, ductwork, and heavy factory jigs.

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions Indian buyers ask most before starting an FDM project. Still unsure? Talk to our engineers.

How large a part can you print in one piece?
Up to 800 × 800 × 800 mm as a single seamless piece — so you avoid splitting and bonding large CAD models. Even bigger parts can be produced as bonded sections on request.
Which materials should I choose for a functional part?
For general strength and toughness, ABS or PETG; for wear and mechanical life, Nylon; for high heat, Polycarbonate; for UV-stable outdoor use, ASA. We help you match the grade to your load, temperature, and environment.
How strong are FDM parts compared with injection molding?
FDM parts are strong and functional but slightly anisotropic (weaker across layers). For most jigs, fixtures, housings, and prototypes they perform excellently; for isotropic strength we may suggest SLS or MJF.
What tolerances can you hold?
Typically ±0.3 mm or ±0.3%, whichever is greater, depending on geometry and material. Critical features can be finished or machined for tighter fits.
Do you provide GST invoicing and pan-India delivery?
Yes. We are a Pune-based, ISO 9001:2015 certified company with fully GST-compliant invoicing and insured delivery across India.
